Ok, let’s talk about summer here for a second. When some hear the word “summer” they immediately think about all the expectations of having the “perfect summer body”. Now what do people really mean by the “perfect summer body”? Well, this is open to many, many interpretations, but really the most common one is just by being simply skinny. Many women and young girls have trouble with body image issues, and I don’t blame them. Its challenging living in a society that constantly tells us through social media and advertising that we need to look or be a certain way. The world has created some illusion that sends the wrong message to girls. The perfect summer body does not exist! You do not need to be ashamed of your stretch marks, your cellulite, your body, your true personality, or yourself and you don’t need to change anything about yourself to fit in, be popular, or to have lots of friends. Speaking from personal experience I don’t have the perfect body. After going through multiple growth spurts I now have stretch marks that I’m not a fan of, but have learnt to accept. I also have a large birthmark on my back from birth that did bother me, but I am learning to overcome my insecurities. I have been told by some to use makeup to cover up my imperfections, but I have chosen to put myself out to the world, just the way I am. Throughout my life I have learnt that true friends and partners accept you just the way you are. Girls, you are perfect! Stop letting society bring you down and telling you what you need to be! Embrace yourselves and be who you want to be! You are all amazing, kind, wonderful human beings! Love yourself just the way you are!
